Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein Has Been Summoned To The White House
Multiple reports are confirming that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has been summoned to the White House on Tuesday.
Hans Nicholas tweeted: "Rod Rosenstein was summoned to the WH today, four days after he indicted 12 Russian Intelligence Officers. He was seen leaving the WH at 11:28AM. Unclear if he met with President Trump, who is still in the residence and hasn't showed up in the West Wing this morning."
Representative Trey Gowdy has ruled out a potential Rosenstein impeachment:
The Dailycaller.com reported: Rep. Trey Gowdy put a damper on any potential plans to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, stating on Sunday that there isn’t enough House support to pass such a measure.
“No. For what? Impeach him for what?” Gowdy told Margaret Brennan on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “No.”
“I’m not convinced there is a movement,” Gowdy said, referring to a report from Politico that Reps. Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan, and others are preparing impeachment documents to oust the deputy attorney general.
Rosenstein has been the focus of intense criticism by Republicans frustrated by his handling of both the Russia investigation and his reluctance to turn over information related to FBI agent bias against President Trump, and Gowdy has also been a critic.
“I’ve had my differences with Rod Rosenstein,” the South Carolina congressman said. “I talk to him quite often privately, which again is a lot more constructive than the public hearings we have.”
